Labour wins Newport-west by-election

Ruth Jones has been elected as the new Labour MP for Newport West after a by-election yesterday. Replacing Paul Flynn, Jones got a substantially reduced majority, but the turnout was 37%. The far-right Neil Hamilton, the leader of UKIP in Wales, got over 2,000 votes, with a small swing from Labour to the Tories.
