The House of Commons has voted to throw out no-deal at any time off the table by 321 to 278 votes tonight. The House also rejected the government’s own motion, which would reject a no-deal scenario after the 29th March, with Cabinet members seen abstaining in the Lobbies. The ‘Malthouse Plan B’ idea has also been defeated, despite the efforts of numerous Tory MPs. Theresa May has now confirmed that there will be a vote on a ‘short, technical’ extension to Article 50.
Once again, MPs vote for what they don’t want. They will soon have to come up with a solution.
