Theresa May is facing the prospect of another defeat of her Brexit deal in the Commons tomorrow, as the EU shows no signs of giving way to the UK’s proposals. Although Parliament had voted to for the government find ‘alternative arrangements’ to the Irish backstop solution, the EU has said that it will not open up the Withdrawal Agreement again, and Mrs May has only got tiny ‘concessions’ from her talks over the last few months. Many in the government are now prepared for a second big loss tomorrow evening, and also preparing for the end of the May era if there is no sign of any progress.
