Geoffrey Cox has risked angering more Tory Brexiteers today by apparently ditching a plan to have an exit clause on the hated Irish backstop, as it, and other proposals, are overly ‘blunt’, and that the EU won’t accept them. The government had been trying to get an exit mechanism and a time limit on the backstop, but those in Brussels are so far showing no signs of budging.
